History Extended Essay
Overview
Workshop time commitment will depend on the level of engagement from the participants, however it is expected to be around 4-6 hours per week in the case of a standard length workshop or 8-12 hours per week for a condensed workshop.
Registrations can be submitted up to 14 days (GMT +2.00) prior to the workshop start date. Any cancellation occurring 14 days or more prior to the first day of the workshop will receive credit for the full amount of the registration fee. Outline
The course will contain the following modules:
Module 1: Understanding the extended essay (EE)
Module 2: Roles & responsibilities
Module 3: Laying the foundation
Module 4: The research process
Module 5: Putting it all together: The history extended essay
Module 6: Providing feedback
Module 7: Submission and assessment
Each of these modules contains information and opportunities designed to enhance a teacher's understanding of the key role of supervision in a student's development and submission of an extended essay. Each module will progressively introduce participants to information and resources pertinent to each stage of the supervision task, as well as the more practical dimensions of the role of an EE supervisor.
The areas covered will include:
- understanding the nature of the extended essay and its assessment rationale
- the policy and procedures related to extended essay supervision
- the roles and responsibilities of an extended essay supervisor
- the roles and responsibilities of the candidate
- the roles and responsibilities of the school
- the assessment criteria and related subject-specific guidelines
There will also be an induction module which introduces the participant to online learning, the environment where it takes place and the course's e-moderator.
Note that this workshop is fully recognised as part of a school's programme evaluation process.
