  • Module 1: Induction - this first week of the workshop will introduce participants to the philosophy of internal assessment (IA) as an integral part of the IB Diploma Programme, with specific reference to the biology course.
  • Module 2: Overview of the IA requirements - the 4/PSOW form, the scope and range of student investigations that are possible, the ICT requirement, the Group 4 project and the treatment of errors and uncertainties in biology.
  • Module 3: IA criteria - the role of both the moderated and non-moderated criteria in biology
  • Module 4: Assessment of the IA part 1 - participants will be given two assessed student investigations for group analysis and discussion
  • Module 5: Assessment of the IA part 2 - participants will be given two non-assessed student investigations for marking independently. Each participant will receive individual feedback from the moderator upon completion of the activity.

The induction module will also introduce participants to online learning, the environment where it takes place, and the course's e-moderator.
